It was a record-setting weekend for Atlanta Track Club Elite at the Penn Classic in Philadelphia.
When Sean Dolan crossed the finish line with outstretched arms, the clock confirmed what the team already knew: the world record for the indoor men's 4x800m relay had fallen.
The record-breaking performance was the result of a true team effort. Clay Pender set the tone with an aggressive lead-off, handing the baton to Luke Houser, who maintained the pace through the second leg. Luciano Fiore followed with a strong third leg, positioning the team with a six-second advantage heading into the final exchange.
Dolan took the baton last, delivering a commanding anchor leg, extending the lead to nearly 12 seconds ahead of his runner-up. With splits of 1:49.69, 1:47.47, 1:47.35 and 1:45.79 each Elite underscored the team's depth and precision across all four legs.
Their combined time of 7:10.29 broke the previous world record by 1.01 seconds, surpassing the mark in 2018 by Hoka NJ/NY Track Club. The performance not only etched Atlanta Track Club Elite into the record books but also signaled a major statement as the indoor season continues.
